Recall 2014 Harley-Davidson Touring with ABS

2014_Harley-Davidson_Electra_Glide_ultra_limitedHarley-Davidson needed to recall 66,421 Touring model 2014 with ABS. The issue with potential risk of front wheel lock-up as the brake line might become pinched between fuel tank and frame. Below is a list with affected models which were produced between July 1, 2013 through May 7, 2014:

  • 2014 FLHP Road King Police
  • 2014 FLHR Road King
  • 2014 FLHRC Road King Classic
  • 2014 FLHRSE CVO Road King
  • 2014 FLHTCU Electra Glide Ultra Classic

  • 2014 FLHTKSE CVO Limited
  • 2014 FLHTKSHRINE Electra Glide Ultra Limited Shrine Edition
  • 2014 FLHTP Electra Glide Police
  • 2014 FLHX Street Glide
  • 2014 FLHXS Street Glide Special
  • 2014 FLHXSHRINE Street Glide Shrine Edition

Owners should contact their dealer who will, free of charge, check the brake line for damage and replace it in case of damage(s). Also additional straps will be installed in order to ensure that the brake line can not get compromised in the future.

The NHTSA (US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) documentation published details the recall as follows: “Some of these motorcycles may have been assembled with a front brake line in a position where it could become pinched between the fuel tank and the frame, either at original assembly or during subsequent service activity. If this condition remains undetected, it could cause front brake fluid pressure to increase while riding, possibly resulting in a front wheel lock-up.”

1 Response to Recall 2014 Harley-Davidson Touring with ABS

  1. Dirty mike says:

After losing a saddlebag on my 08 street glide which cost me 400 bucks to repaint , ive learned to use either a zip tie or safety wire to keep the pins in place iv3 also experienced abs issues on my 2014 streetglide where ive had no rear brake at all and the front brake will lock up at times , keeps things interesting for sure the hydraulic clutch and rear suspension will be fine after i spend another three grand to upgrade a 26k bike i love harley davidson but improvements to basic systems on an already expensive motorcycle is ridiculous
